Dr. Tom Tedeschi joins Breakfast with Bridgett

Tinnitus is a mysterious ringing or buzzing sound some people hear in their ears. One in four adults deal with it and it can worsen with age.

In fact, the fastest-growing age group of hearing loss and tinnitus patients is 18-50 years old.

Tuesday morning on Breakfast With Bridgett, Dr. Tom Tedeschi, Chief Audiology Officer At Miracle Ear, discussed prevention and treatment, as well as other conditions associated with tinnitus, like hearing loss and dementia.

“Tinnitus is associated with some type of hearing loss. What we want to do is take a look at how severe that hearing loss is. We’re learning more and more about comorbidities with hearing loss, such as dementia and one of the things we want to look at is cognitive overload,” Dr. Tedeschi explained.

Dr. Tedeschi says benefits of hearing aids include helping mask tinnitus, reducing cognitive decline and helping slow down dementia. Watch the full interview above to hear more about tinnitus and hearing loss prevention.
