ORLANDO, Fla. – Development chances rose Sunday for the tropical disturbance in the Caribbean, which has been designated as “Invest 97L” by the NHC.
It’s forecast to continue strengthening as it tracks north into the Gulf of Mexico.
As of 2 p.m. Sunday, the disturbance was given a 40% chance of cyclone formation in the next 48 hours and a 80% chance over the next seven days, according to the NHC.
The developing system in the western Caribbean is expected to bring heavy rains to portions of Central America during the next several days regardless.
