ORLANDO, Fla. – The criminal trial for suspended Orlando City Commissioner Regina Hill won’t happen until after the new year.
Hill is charged with exploiting a 96-year-old constituent out of more than $100,000 and using the woman’s identity to help secure a $428,000 mortgage for a home in Orlando.
News 6 has also uncovered federal investigators were looking into the claims of mortgage fraud.
Hill has denied any wrongdoing, and she has been ordered out of the homes she was living in that were owned by the elderly woman.
She was scheduled to go to trial on the state charges on Sept. 30, but during a pre-trial hearing Tuesday morning, a judge granted a motion to delay the trial until Jan. 14, 2025.
Hill is also facing two civil cases, where a guardian for the 96-year-old woman is challenging a recent transaction that deeded Hill’s longtime Orlando home in the woman’s name along with a charity run by Hill.
The guardian claimed it was a breach of a previous order issued by an Orange County judge who oversaw the original claims of exploitation.
